Jet's UD photo

This photo was taken the day that Jet got her Utility Dog title. She is my beautiful girl. She is both my "heart" dog and my "once in a lifetime" dog. When you spend hundreds of hours training a dog, the bond grows very strong. It is like she is a part of me. We are a team.

Hank's Article Bag

Hank's bag is finished. It is just large enough for Hank's huge scent articles. A pheasant pair is embroidered on the front pocket. It is a very large, detailed design.

Hank never looks very impressed with getting his picture taken. He laid down without my asking him to as if he was thinking "here we go again".

Making Scent Article Bags

I've begun taking orders for scent article bags. I've made a couple for people. I'm making a bag for Hank's articles. Hank is a big boy and his articles are very large. They will require a very large bag. The bags have a frame that stays open or snaps shut. I made one for Jet that isn't quite as large as Hank's. Scent articles are used in Utility level obedience. The trainer puts their scent on an article which is added to a pile of articles. The dog picks out the article with its owner's scent on it. Jet has this exercise fairly well mastered. Hank is learning to do it. When training this exercise, initially the trainer adds some squeeze cheese to the scented article. Over time the cheese is faded and the dog must rely on the trainer's scent alone.
